Here are some of the opportunities coming up!

Leaf Raking for Seniors

When: to be determined

Time: to be determined 

Where: A parishioner's home

Who/Contact: Mary Kravchuk reoffice@stcbparish.org or 630-766-8822

What:   Our parish seniors are looking for help raking their leaves this Fall.  Teams of one parent and 1-3 students will sign up online (be sure to include the parents name and phone number) and be matched with someone who has requested help.  Mrs. Kravchuk will then contact the parent leader with the phone number of a person needing help and they schedule the best day/time to go do the raking.

Bridgeway Tech Help

When: Saturday, November 9, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 14 and April 11

​Time: 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Where: Bridgeway Senior Living, 303 E Washington St, Bensenville (a 3-story building located on the far side of the property east of the rehabilitation home)

What:   Assist residents at Bridgeway with questions about how to use the various features on their electronic devices.

HOPE HOUSE in Villa Park

Hope House is looking for volunteers to help cook and serve dinner or breakfast for up to 19 residents at their shelter in Villa Park.

When: Various days and times are listed on their website.

Where: Hope House in Villa Park, IL

What:   (The information below is taken from their website)

All of the ingredients plus a recipe are provided for volunteer's to prepare a meal.  The address of Hope House is undisclosed, please contact Joy Newburn 630-519-6547 or jnewburn@cc-doj.org.

  • 2-3 volunteers is ideal to make a meal. We can’t accommodate groups over 5 people (if more than three people are there, the others can play with children or clean out the freezer or organize the child area). Our kitchen is very small.

  • Volunteers do not need to clean up the meal. The clients do that.

  • Hope House is a 19-bed facility. We serve individuals and families.

  • Please do not share the location of Hope House as we wish to keep this a secure facility.

  • Children 8 and older can volunteer if accompanied by an adult 18 years or older

  • Yes you can prepare food and bring it in if you follow and USDA approved menu (which you can find online)   https://www.fns.usda.gov/usda-standardized-recipe

  • We never know how many people will attend the meal. We prepare food for 19

  • You can take pictures of yourself but may not take pictures of clients

  • Please wear modest clothing and closed toed shoes.

  • Please park on the street. You will get towed if you park in the back or in the driveway

  • You do not have to wear hairnets. We will provide gloves. Aprons are not required, but if you wish to wear them you will need to bring your own.

  • If only 1 volunteer shows up than staff can help with the meal

  • We would be happy to provide you with a list of items that we need to be donated to Hope House

Mass Lector

When: Sunday, November 3, December 1, January 12, February 2, March 1, April 5

Time: 9:00am Mass (please arrive at 8:45am)

Where: St. Charles Borromeo Church

What:   Lectors will read 1-2 readings at the 9am mass. Practice time will be provided.

Bridgeway Bingo and Crafts

When: Saturday, October 5, November 2, December 7, January 4, February 1, March 7, April 4

Time: 1:00pm - 2:30pm

What:   Lead seniors in playing BINGO and making a fun seasonal craft. (Please bring a box of movie candy for prizes.)

Whole Family Night Set Up

When: October 30, November 20, January 29 and April 29

Time: 5:00pm

Where: St. Charles Borromeo Church

What:   Arrive early on RE nights to help set up the gym for our Whole Family sessions.

2nd Grade Retreat Help

When: Saturday, January 18 and Saturday, March 21

Time: Set up: 7:30am - 9am

            During: 9am - 11am

            Clean up: 11am - 12 Noon

Where: St. Charles Borromeo Church

What:   Help before, during or after retreats. You will have your choice of dates and times.
